It’s safe to say that Hip-Hop in 2017 was taken over by the Migos and they plan on continuing the wave of success with the release of Culture II. The Atlanta trio started off 2017 with their lead single which featured Lil Uzi Vert “Bad and Boujee” which gained the momentum needed to launch Culture into the heights that it went. It was the base of the movement that allowed the Migos to cross over and take over the air waves in America.
With the single going viral and even acknowledged by Donald Glover on the 2016 Golden Globes. The group took off and carried their momentum into their next single “T-Shirts” and other pending features they started to gain from their new-found success.
The Migos Takeover The Airwaves
Quavo alone started to become a hot name in features landing 10 simultaneous hits on The Hot 100 by May. Songs like “Congratulations” by Post Malone and “I’m The One” by Dj Khaled, was probably his highest charting songs doing that span of time. Quavo alongside the other members of the group they also landed some features for some pop artists. Both Katy Perry and Calvin Harris benefited from the group’s success by adding them to their singles.
Not only are they pushing out their own music and features they are releasing solo efforts with other artists. Just this past Halloween Offset, along with 21 Savage and Metro Boomin, released a collaborative EP titled Without Warning. Quavo is expected to release his collaborative effort with Travis Scott on Black Friday to tie us over until Culture II release in January.
The sudden rise to the forefront hasn’t phased the trio and the quality and work ethic they’ve shown since they came on the scene. With the formula they developed their labels 300 and Quality Control with how they push music and market themselves I believe they will continue their success into 2018.
