Hip-Hop Trends: The Dynamic Duo

With the all of today’s hottest artists teaming up to drop projects, I’ve decided to go over some of today’s most dynamic Duos in hip-hop. This trend isn’t new in the industry but has recently caught fire after Kanye and Jay-Z (The Throne) dropped their Watch the Throne album back in 2011 and even more after Future and Drake’s What A Time To Be Alive dropped in 2015.

Since the last decade began and the age of streaming music giving artists more freedom and control over how they release their music without labels, it is becoming easier for artists to collaborate on projects without a labels involvement.

More artists that you wouldn’t ever think of working together have gotten together to produce some pretty good projects. In just the last year we have had Future & Young Thug, Jadakiss & Fabolous, Offset & 21 Savage, and Quavo & Travis Scott drop projects. This week Jay-Z confirmed that he and his wife Beyoncé have an album they’ve in the works.

Personally, I feel this is a good thing for the industry to have so many artists collaborating with one another, but I just wish the quality of music was better from these projects. So far none of the artists have given us a full legit album. The quality at times are not even mixtape worthy to me.

I've been blogging since 2006. I specialized in writing stories, about music, and creative processes.
