This week has been a pretty good week for music. This past week we had a couple of new projects to listen to. Since last week Quavo and Usher & Zaytoven dropped new projects and a couple of new tracks have made their way to the playlists. Let’s dig into some of this week’s hottest tracks.
6LACK – “Pretty Little Fears” (feat J. Cole)
Even though this track isn’t a new release, it was a standout from 6LACK’s last album. “Pretty Little Fears“ is the second single from East Atlanta Love Song and features J. Cole. The track was already starting to catch a buzz, but with the release of the visual, the song has skyrocketed on all playlists and even the charts. On the song, 6LACK talks about a failed relationship while Cole speaks on his relationship with his wife.
Quavo – “HUNCHO DREAMS”
‘HUNCHO DREAMS‘ has probably been the most talked about track this week. The track serves as an answer to Nicki Minaj’s ‘Barbie Dreams‘ in which Quavo’s name was one of the ones she name-dropped on the track. The track serves as some confirmation that the two has had a relationship together. Even though ‘HUNCHO DREAMS’ is my hot track, check out both and compare the two.
Daniel Caesar – “Who Hurt You”
This is the first time we heard from Daniel this year. ‘Who Hurt You’ is believed to have been inspired by a stop at Follies in Atlanta while on tour. Earlier this week (OCT 16) the track appeared with no promotion and features some vocals from T-Pain. This song is simply amazing. I can personally say it captures a part of the culture here in Atlanta. When asked about the song Daniel said that he gave the stripper about $3400. He went on to say that she gave him her number, but he lost his phone in her apartment and he wrote the song to find her.
Jacquees – “Get You” (Daniel Caesar Cover)
Even though this isn’t his song, Jacquees totally bodied this cover. “Get You” was originally performed by Daniel Caesar. The cover appears on Jacquees’ Quemix 3 mixtape. The tape comes after his studio album 4275 which released a couple of months ago. Make sure you check out the original version of the song and compare.
Elle Mai – “Shot Clock”
‘Shot Clock’ was Elle Mai’s first song she actually recorded during the album process that made the album. The song bites off of a chorus by Drake’s ‘Legend’. The basis of the song is to use your time wisely, no one will wait on you forever. It’s pretty straightforward.
Well, that’s it for this week’s hot tracks. If you would like to see more hot tracks check out some of our previous hot tracks here. As always leave your thoughts and comments in the comment section or tweet us. We would love to hear what tracks you’ve listened to this week.
