January has been a pretty active month when it came to music. This month we received new projects from Future, Ariana Grande, and Summer Walker and received a good amount of singles as well from other artists. We also got a lot of buzz from J. Cole and his camp Dreamville. So with no further delay, here’s my last HOT TRACKS list for the month of January.

J. Cole – “Middle Child”

J. Cole is back with his latest single ‘Middle Child’. The track comes after his run as a featured artist in 2018. It also came after his Dreamville rap camp that was here in Atlanta a couple of weeks ago. Produced by T-Minus, ‘Middle Child’ shows his place in hip-hop at the moment as the middle child. It also showed that he’s willing to collaborate more with other artists by performing on a track that’s not his own. Nevertheless, this track is pretty dope and worth the listen. There is a lot you can take away from this track so it may need a couple of spins to soak it all in.

Future – “Rocket Ship”

While Future is continuing the promotion run of his latest project he dropped off new visuals to what would possibly be his third single ‘Rocket Ship’‘Rocket Ship was produced by ATL Jacob. On the track, Future talks about his mental state post drugs and comparing it to the altitude reached by a rocket ship. It is one of my favorite tracks off the project. If you haven’t checked out his album Future Hndrxx Presents: The WIZRD please go check it out.

James Blake – “What’s The Catch” (feat André 3000)

André 3000 has been in the public eye more than usual lately. First appearing on Future’s documentary The Wizrd and now he’s a feature on Blake’s ‘What’s The Catch’. On the track,  the two explore the things that seem to be too good to be true. I find it funny that this was the theme of the song. It seems that it’s too good to be true that André gave us some fresh bars, but we got them. This song has been on repeat for me because of Andre’s bars.  What are your thoughts about the song? Let me know in the comments.

Chris Brown – “Who Dis”

This past week Chris Brown released his second single off of his upcoming album Indigo titled ‘Who Dis’. The single comes after a week of scandals in Paris.  This was a previously recorded track that fans have hoped to hear for years after a sample leaked.  The song debuted on SoundCloud on Jan 25th.

That’s all for this week’s HOT TRACKS. What songs are you listening to this week? Please let me know in the comments or tweet me on Twitter.
