When you think about it there is a lot of good music that falls through the cracks in the industry today. This is due mostly to the increase in artists output and a decrease in consumer’s attention spans. Speaking for myself, I don’t have time to comb through playlists and blogs to find this music as much as I used to. So in my new series, I will be sharing the music that I find others that I feel are sleepers. Sleepers are songs that may have been overlooked that some feel are hot tracks. So let’s dive into the first edition of sleepers.
So Far Gone was Drake’s third mixtape and the project that launched him into the mainstream worldwide. The critics loved it giving it an 81% approval rating. After being signed to Young Money Entertainment, Cash Money Records and Universal the project was re-released as an EP. On its 10th anniversary, we take a look back at the project and how it, in the end, became a project that helped shape the music that we hear today.
The 00s was a good period musically for me. I was a student in high school during the early 00s and was exposed more than ever before to music thanks to the rise of the internet. Prior to that time I only experienced music through radio and music video countdowns. One of my favorite genres in high school was R&B. Since I was into writing, I was drawn more to that genre because of just that. So this week I will be taking a look at some of my favorite R&B songs from that era. I will also be sharing my Spotify playlist which is always being updated. So let’s get to it.
January has been a pretty active month when it came to music. This month we received new projects from Future, Ariana Grande, and Summer Walker and received a good amount of singles as well from other artists. We also got a lot of buzz from J.
